Water temperatures are running in the mid to upper 50s. With all the influx of rain, the lake was running 3 foot above normal. The Corps of Engineers have brought it down and stabilized it but it has become extremely muddy. All the patterns that were working have pretty much been thrown out the window at this point. Every time this happens the fish get extremely shallow no matter what the water temperature is. To put the odds in your favor get on the bank and just look for anything hard or dead bank grass. Riprap, clay points, wood anything that the fish can relate to that is hard is a prime place to look right now. Squarebill crankbaits, rattle baits and Chatterbaits around the hard stuff and black and blue chatterbaits, swim jigs and spinnerbaits around the dead grass. Do not let the mud fool you you can have some awesome days out there in it.
